This engineering tool (and a stunt companion) has seen use in multiple episodes by multiple characters. In 'The Dauphin' it is used by both Wesley and Geordi. Most notably, and quite prominently, it is used by Lt. Barclay during his opening scene in his very first appearance on TNG in 'Hallow Pursuits'. If you press the red button then several white LED's light up at the front.
